Reverence

One of the 12 values from the 912 project is reverence. The dictionary defines it as a strong sentiment of respect and honor. Obviously we can apply that to other people. We can show respect to those around us. But as it applies to God, I feel that our reverence for God will grow in proportion to our knowledge of just who He is. My first idea is that He is a being who created us and loves us. He is capable of genuine love and concern.

1. Psalm 37:23. The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord and He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down, for the Lord upholds him with His hand. (He delights in us and cares for us)

2. Jeremiah 31:3. …Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.

How have you seen God’s love for you in your life, or how have you seen Him holding you lately?

This is our government, they work for US.

Glenn Beck, host of a show on Fox News, introduced the 912 project a few weeks ago. If you missed it, you can find out all about it at www.the912project.com. It is a place for us to connect, vent and learn. Here the 9 principles and 12 values:

1. America is Good.

2. I believe in God and He is the Center of my Life.

3. I must always try to be a more honest person than I was yesterday.

4. The family is sacred. My spouse and I are the ultimate authority, not the government.

5. If you break the law you pay the penalty. Justice is blind and no one is above it.

6. I have a right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, but there is no guarantee of equal results.

7. I work hard for what I have and I will share it with whom I want to. Government cannot force me to be charitible.

8. It is not un-American for me to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion.

9. The government works for me. I do not answer to them, they answer to me.

The 12 Values: honesty, reverence, hope, thrift, humility, charity, sincerity, moderation, hard work, courage, personal responsibility, gratitude.

In this section of my blog, I want to share from time-to-time concerns that I have regarding issues from Washington and get your opionions as well. You can post to the 912 project, of course, but it seems so big and impersonal, so I’m creating a smaller, more intimate group of family, friends and their friends who can read, post and respond. We can talk about the Values and Prinicples, discuss the importance of what the Founders designed for our America (read the 912 project mission statement) and share ideas of what others (and ourselves) are doing to show that this is OUR country. The government works for US. Hope you will join me, read often and post just as often.

1. Do you watch the direction that America is being taken in and teel powerless to stop it?

2. Do you believe that your voice isn’t loud enough to be heard above the noise from Washington any more?

My Handprints

Tiny handprints grow so fast
Their awkward groping soon will clasp
A ball, a book a sweetheart’s hand
A diploma, briefcase, a wedding band

Tiny handprints grow so strong
It doesn’t take them very long
To snap a shirt, to paint, to draw
To work hard , to drive a car

Tiny handprints grow to be
A person that is quite unique
A wonderful mix of so many things
With his own feelings, thought and dreams

Tiny handprints grow to rely
On his parents to bring him up just right
His parents pray that when he’s grown
He’ll say their job has been well done

My three precious grandkids are so far away, they are growing every day, and boy do I miss seeing all their wonderful milestones. My oldest, Cadence, will be four this year. She is starting to talk about everything and feeding her baby brother breakfast. My other granddaughter, Ally, is almost a year. She’s just sprouted her first tooth, can almost take a step or two and can take her pants off. Bet that keeps mom hopping. And my only grandson, Cadence’s little brother, is also almost a year. I understand he too is taking some steps. To my kids–take lots of pics, spend as much time as possible with them, for they grow up so fast. Think how fast this past year has gone. Families–God’s wonderful creation. Mom

This is my first entry. Why a blog? There is so much to feel unsettled about in our country these days. One only has to look at the nightly news, or go to work and received the dreaded pink slip. In fact, my husband lost his job in Oct. and we had to move to another state in order to get a job, away from friends and family. My husband and I are Christians, so the purpose of this blog will be to share encouraging tidbits from the Bible, or from other Christians, all for the purpose of encouraging others. Also, I love my country, and from time to time I will also share my thoughts about what is happening here and around the world.
